What’s my skin tone? Here’s how to tell.

April 3, 2020

How do you find a red lipstick shade that suits you? It’s all about your skin tone.

The quickest way to work out what skin tone you are is to take a look at the veins in your wrists in a natural light.

If they look blue you’re a cool skin tone and your skin will have blue, red or pink red undertones. Cool tones are best suited to blue-based reds – true reds such as pillar box reds and fire engine reds. An added bonus is that blue-based reds make your teeth look whiter!  70% of women have a cool skin tone.

If they look green then you’re a warm skin tone and your skin will have peach, yellow or golden undertones. Warm tones are best suited to yellow-based reds – orange reds and coral reds. 20% of women have a warm skin tone.

If they’re somewhere in-between or appear colourless, you’re a neutral skin tone and amongst the very lucky few who can pretty much rock any shade of red lipstick. 10% of women have a neutral skin tone.

The upshot of all this is that yes, red lipstick looks good on everyone.

Now you know your skin tone you can find all of your perfect reds here.
